2015: The Year of No More

This is the longest I’ve gone without blogging (10+ days), but it was a much needed break. The holidays were like finals week, with so much to do my head was nowhere near the place it needed to be in to crank out a blog post.

Today is the first day in awhile that I’ve had the chance to slow down. I woke up, worked out, cleaned and put away the mountain pile of things that had been lying around since Christmas (mostly gifts, wrapped and unwrapped). I took the most amazing shower with this new shower gel I got for Christmas (it made me feel like I was in a spa).

Silence

I read an article by James Clear this morning that made the world just a little bit clearer.

In the article, he talked about what the specific qualities were that made someone an elite performer. He mentioned Kobe Bryant, Mozart, and Picasso. He talked about points that researchers had made, about what separates these world class masters from everybody else, and I won’t make you wait to the end of this blog post to know what it is.

I’ve been learning the importance of personal creeds and manifestos through my favorite entrepreneur, Jonathan Fields. His free e-book on the study of how revolutions are started, and how that can apply to business, has really changed the way I think about marketing, branding, and even blogging. I could never do his e-book justice, so if you’re interested in the art of revolution as it pertains to business, read the free e-book here, or listen to it here.

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea is living proof that hard work can get you anywhere, and she’s inspired me since day one because she is such a bad ass.

More than that though, she makes it known how hard she’s worked to get where she is. When she raps about moving to Florida from Australia with ‘no money and no family’ when she was 16 to pursue a career in music, you really feel it. You understand where she’s coming from, and you see where she is now.

AintItFun

There are some mornings you just wake up wondering how you got so lucky. That every day situations are not every day situations, and that laughing, really laughing with a loved one, is pure poetry. That sometimes there’s nothing more beautiful than the sound of crows outside your window, and the sounds of water rushing in the shower down the hall.

The other day, I had a serious breakthrough.

I was gearing up to drive home (by way of street) and I felt like I was at my wits end with being afraid of driving. I felt like I was done for. That was it. I was never going to get better, I was just going to have to pay for a car every month that I didn’t want to drive, and that I’d have to depend on other people for the rest of my life to take me places. I just couldn’t see myself getting better. I was extremely frustrated.

First of all, hi.

Second of all, I love Instagram. Are we following each other yet?

Recently I’ve discovered a ton of new people who post the most inspiring stuff. I ventured out and started following people I don’t know, who take the most beautiful pictures. Most are about love, some are about peace and living in LA, (even though those two things don’t quite go together), and some are just wacky and unique. I know you’re probably on Instagram too, so I wanted to share with you a few of my favorites, in case you were interested in seeing some new pictures in your feed

Well, it’s over. I survived my first blog panel. I’m having a glass of wine and watching Heaven is For Real, and Adam is at a soccer game at the Rose Bowl. But the panel is over, and wow. Sometimes when you speak in front of people you don’t know, afterwards, you feel like there isn’t anything you can’t do.
