The Ocean is Loud Tonight (Weekly Shareables)

The ocean is loud tonight. The waves are crashing so hard, you’d think a tidal wave was approaching if you weren’t discerning enough. I’m writing this around 1am-ish. I had a few margaritas last night, and I ended up crashing out around 930pm and waking up around now, 1am-ish. Also I had a nightmare. So I put my contacts in, turned on the TV, and opened up my laptop.

Anyway now it’s morning in your inbox, so let’s speak of present-day things. I’ve selected a winner for the giveaway, and I’m happy to announce it is Chantel. Chantel, if you’re reading this, I’ve emailed you, and your book will be out this weekend! (I’m sad to let it go, but it’s for the best).

If you’re in the mood for some light reading, and you live in the San Diego area (or not), I finally got my first article approved (after three attempts) on Info Barrel and it’s now published if you want to take a peek. It’s an article about networking in San Diego. I originally submitted it through a writing contest from the website Brazen Life, but I came in second place apparently, so I decided it was a good fit for Info Barrel. The silver lining of losing the contest is that they wanted me to write for them anyway. (They liked me, they really liked me!) They asked me to cover another city, and offered to pay me $50. Which I gladly accepted. So I’m working on networking events in Austin now. If you know of any good ones (aside from South by Southwest of course), send me a line!

Now is a good time to work on that, actually. Seeing as how I have some time. Liquor is a tricky beast. It puts you to sleep for a good three hours but then you’re up and ready to go again, and it’s a shame that it has to happen on vacation. Because all you’ve got is your laptop and a nighttime talk show with a host you’ve never heard of. And you miss your boyfriend.
