The Creative Collective_Pseudo Bartender_2

This blog photo made lovingly with PicMonkey

As you may or may not know, I am not a bartender.

But I did recently decide to participate in a wonderful little bloggy link-up called The Creative Collective, in which me and a dozen other bloggers fashion together a creative, alcoholic drink this week out of the little drops and dribbles of vodka and mixers lying around our apartments. Or at least that’s the way it is in my case!

The Creative Collective is a collection of creative blogger activity prompts crafted by an awesome lady designer/blogger named Melyssa over at The Nectar Collective. This week’s prompt was to create a new cocktail recipe, give it a fun name, and serve it to a few friends.

Well, being that the few friends around me just happen to be me, myself, and the world outside, I thought what the hell. After rummaging through my fridge and placing every thing that could possibly be mixed on my counter top, I took a good look at it all.

I resisted the urge to buy things, because I figured it’d be a great way of testing out my creativity by working with whatever I had lying around, and what I had wasn’t terrible. A couple of these things together would go down nicely, but I wanted to do more than just throw a couple of these things together–I wanted to boldly go where no man had gone before. I wanted to shake shit up.

Off the bat, I got rid of everything I couldn’t see myself mixing together, which meant the Fat Tire, Sailor Jerry’s, and the Bailey’s were instantly gone. I ended up pairing things down to what you see in the main picture: a dash of green tea, a splash of ginger ale, half a shot of bubble gum vodka, and two shots of pre-made Skinny Girl cosmo stuff. I also added a bit of leftover cherry Powerade for flavor and color.

A few minutes later, given this was also my first time using a martini shaker (I know, right?), I ended up shaking the ingredients of this delectable nectar all over my counter top and kitchen floor. I’ll have you know though, that this spillage happened as I was removing the top part of the shaker, and that I didn’t shake, shake, shake without the lid, haha. Which I would guess would be a pretty rookie move.

When I finally got all of that cleaned up, it was time for my novice pour.

And a few seconds later, voila! I had myself a fancy little red drink that I was a bit nervous to try. Upon viewing my creation, I said aloud, “I shall call it, The Eunique”.

I’m calling it the “Eunique” because a little boy who used to live on my street years ago used to call me “Eunique” because he couldn’t say my name.  And for some reason while I was making this drink, that name just came to me. This drink was so Monique of me, in all of its improvised sloppiness, and since it sounded a bit bland to name the drink after my name, I thought the perfect name to cement this drink into existence would be “Eunique”. And so it shall be!

Now, because I’m not supposed to be drinking this week because I’m on antibiotics, I had a couple of sips of the Eunique before draining it away. I will tell you, it tasted more like flat, spiked Powerade than anything else, but I think a 19-year-old looking to try their first drink would have loved it. Cheers, mate.

Cute cocktail! I just shared a recipe today on the blog as well. It was the first time I used a legitimate jigger. I usually just mixed things together.

It’s a super pretty cocktail! I have to admit, I have never even heard of bubblegum vodka and even though I am not a vodka drinker, that stuff sounds super tasty. I’m also loving your martini glass! Where did you get it?

Hahha, yeah I hadn’t heard of bubblegum vodka until I got it as a gift! :) And I’m not sure on the martini glass actually, I got that as a gift as well! But maybe some where like Home Goods? Thanks for stopping by!
