Galaxies

(Photo credit: NASA. Thank you NASA, for showing me galaxies).

I wasn’t feeling good when I woke up this morning. It was because I didn’t have any plans. I could talk about this topic forever (how not having plans gives me anxiety), but instead, I want to for a second write about how I got myself out of this slump.

Don’t worry, I know it’s Saturday, this is a really short post.

I got myself out of it because of the following cool web stuff I found recently:

It’s because of these cool web things that my side project website for people with no direction is starting to look WAY up, and 2014 is starting to look WAY bright.

These bloggers subscribe to the notion of doing what you love for happiness, and quitting things that bring you down. The Step Away From the Mall blog I just discovered had a post about something called a ‘million dollar part time job’. It’s that side job you have in addition to your ‘real job’, that only pays a few bucks a month, but how that few bucks a month is goes to your savings account and will one day make you a millionaire if you don’t touch it.

I very much like that notion, because this year I’m forming a strategy to make some sort of money on the side, and to live the life that I want to live. I have a vision for myself that I want to see brought to life at the end of this year, and I’m planning for it now.

The resources I just mentioned above are few, but they’ve already paid dividends to my future, I can feel it. I’m really, really excited about it. I’m going to the gym now because I need to pay attention to my body too, as much as going to the gym is the last thing I ever want to do. I’m alive and well, and I want to embrace it. Health is important. Pizza and beer are important. So I have to find a way to balance the two.

Also, with regard to that last bullet point in the list, the website Raptitude, is an awesome something you should check out. I’ve only read like 3 posts and it’s made me want to start some serious other projects for this blog. One is experimentation. The guy on Raptitude has a whole list on the side of his blog about life ‘experiments’ that he does. For example, he gave up coffee and alcohol for a whole month, just to see how his body would react. I would love to start doing little experiments like this, and documenting the process. Little challenges are what make life fun.

I also want to start maybe a monthly post on the blog where I’m sharing cool finds on the internet. I’d say a weekly post, but sometimes it takes me awhile to stumble on awesomeness.

This, en totale, is what got me out of my slump this morning. Remembering the voices of these people. And I felt really excited this morning about life, and I wanted to share it with you to see if I could infect you with the same.

I hope you have a fabulous, fabulous weekend!

I love this post and really needed it today. Thank you for the great resources/links! I too am looking to make more and more and more money “on the side”. That is my goal less fries on the side and more money on the side. :)
