BookGiveaway

This blog photo made lovingly with PicMonkey

After many long months, I’m happy to say that I finally have something to give away: a book! A book for writers, and writing is my favorite sort of subject.

I’m giving away a book by Geraldine Solon called Authorpreneur in Pajamas. I read it a couple of weeks ago, and posted the review on Examiner. The title hooked me from the beginning, because I’d love to sit at home and write all day in my pajamas. And be an entrepreneur about it. Plus, I’ve really been itching to get back to fiction. (Or should I say clawing?)

I can’t remember the last time I worked on something fictional. I used to be so into fiction. I still am. But a long time ago I interviewed for a magazine called Flaunt, and the guy that interviewed me asked me what I liked to read, after I told him I was a big reader.

“Fiction,” I said. “I love fiction.”

To which he replied, “I never read fiction. I’m all about non-fiction.”

At which point I figured I was completely stupid for reading fiction and that non-fiction was what smart people were doing, and from then on, I was only reading non-fiction books, and fiction sort of exited stage left. Moonwalk style.

End sob story. The point is, I’ve always loved fiction, and reading Solon’s story about how she self-published her fiction and built her author’s platform to promote it from the ground up really made me reconnect with writing fiction in an oddly romantic way. She lists an incredible amount of resources for writers looking to build their author platform, and if you’re into writing and promoting fiction, it would be a good one to have on the shelf.

So I’m happy to say that the winner of this here giveaway will be sent a copy of Geraldine’s oh-so-terrific little book. The giveaway will run from today until Monday, June 16th at 8pm, at which point I will reach out to the winner, and announce them on the blog the next day. Woo-hoo!

In other news, I miss blogging. I try and do it at least once or twice a week but I feel like sometimes I’m not really blogging anymore, I’m just spouting. I don’t want to spout. I want to blog the way I like to blog, and that’s with my whole heart, and lately I haven’t been blogging with my whole heart because I’ve been putting my whole heart into adjusting to this further location and these new streets and well, this new life it feels like. As much as I love it, my inner something is still off kilter, and my favorite hobbies have taken a back seat to getting my mind, body, and spirit in alignment again.

But I’m being 100% patient with myself, and dowsing myself in all kinds of love and goodness. I’d also like to admit that day by day I am learning more and more that I know nothing at all. It’s a comforting, humbling feeling.

But yes, yay for book giveaways! Below you’ll find a few different ways to get your entries in. Let me know if you have any issues, and good luck! :)

I used to get guff about reading fiction too. Especially since, even as an adult, I prefer reading fiction meant for teens (or pre-teens!). Pfft. Like non-fiction is sooooooooo mature. I read — and write! — non-fiction every day. Sometimes I just want to escape! :O
